Distance Learning and Computer Services have been collaborating to develop an appropriate migration path to Blackboard 9.1.
At this time, Blackboard has recommended that a tool we use for migration and maintenance not be used at all due to corruption issues.
Since this is not an option to move forward, we are hereby staying on Blackboard 8 for the Spring 2011 semester. This problem has been confirmed with other schools.
Moving forward, Distance Learning staff and Computer Services staff are working with Blackboard and various other educational institutions to determine the best course of action.
Distance Learning and Computer Services will release a joint statement on plans for moving forward on Nov. 1. This will give us ample opportunity to work with Blackboard, Oracle and various other schools to put together a migration plan that will provide the most stable environment in which to educate our students.
Thank you,
Computer Services & Distance Learning
