College & Career Exploration Program welcomed students from the Albany School District

Approximately 60 middle and high school students, who participate in the Albany branch of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), were on campus Saturday, May 21, as part of the College and Career Exploration Program Series, coordinated by the Student Affairs division.

NBCDI serves as an advocate and resource on policies at the federal, state and local levels to ensure standards, regulations and resource allocations support equitable systems for Black children and families.

The day-long program featured learning skills workshops for the students and information sessions for the parents. The students and parents also heard presentations from the Business and Criminal Justice Department, Office of Community and Professional Education and Kids On Campus Programs. The day concluded with guided tours and presentations from the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Skills, Construction, Engineering and Architecture, Dental Hygiene and the Biological Sciences departments, respectively.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the program that introduces future students to the abundant college and career opportunities offered at Hudson Valley Community College and strengthens the college’s relationships with local school districts.
