To all staff and students:
As we are well into summer mode on campus, let’s please continue to be alert to our overall safety.
The campus is much quieter during the summer, but staff and students should remain alert.
If you observe any unusual situation, or someone who could be a potential intruder, please immediately call Public Safety at (518) 629-7210.
Although the summer days are long, if you are coming in early or staying late, please try not to walk alone. Feel free to call Public Safety, and we’ll gladly meet you to escort you to/from your car or to the bus stop.
Also, be aware of children attending summer camps and other visitors on campus for ValleyCats baseball games and other events.
In light of recent events involving active shooters throughout the nation, our Public Safety staff will continue to be vigilant and alert. Public Safety personnel regularly meet with different groups/offices on campus to discuss overall safety and to offer the “Run-Hide-Fight” active shooter awareness presentation. Please contact me (f.aliberti@hvcc.edu) to schedule a presentation if your office area has not already participated.
Public Safety regularly communicates with local police about events/situations as they occur. Also, our staff will be patrolling and visiting offices throughout the summer and maintaining campus patrols as well.
Lastly, please be certain to update your contact information, both on NY Alert/Everbridge and Alertus, the college’s emergency alert communications systems. https://www.hvcc.edu/publicsafety/emergency/communication.html
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns regarding safety. Wishing everyone a happy and safe summer!
