Time for a Midterm Check

The Midterm Check survey provides students with feedback on their learning styles based on their responses to 42 statements. Students can click to the survey from the home page (www.hvcc.edu) in the weeks after midterm grades are posted or find the link at olac.hvcc.edu, the Online Learning Assistance Center.

The results are generated on the computer screen as soon as the student completes the survey, providing the student with guidance to academic support services on campus. Students are encouraged to print the results to review later, share with their advisors or discuss with Don Frament, education specialist, in the LAC.

Students with low midterm grades and all new students soon will receive a letter encouraging them to take the Midterm Check survey. The Office of Instructional Support Services and Retention asks the campus community to recommend this self-assessment instrument to all students to explore their learning styles and maximize their opportunities for academic success.

If you have questions or comments regarding the Midterm Check instrument or other retention programs, please contact Kevin McNeelege at ext. 7638 or h.mcneelege@hvcc.edu.

Thank you for your support of student success and retention!

The Midterm Check self-assessment will be accessible to students under News & Events on the college’s home page from Oct. 25 through Nov. 12.
