The campus has learned of the passing of Beverly Bardequez, a retired administrator at the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center who earned a SUNY Chancellor’s Award in Professional Service in 2003. She died July 2.
Her ongoing work to promote and protect the legacy of Rapp Road — where Black farmers from Mississippi settled in the 1930s after fleeing the Jim Crow south — and more about her life are recalled in a page-one article in the Times Union on July 9.
