ODEI collaborates with EOC in the Community

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion continues to work with the refugee and immigrant community in the Capital Region.

Over the July 23-24 weekend, Alton Campbell, coordinator of Instructional Services at the EOC, and I attended the Refugee Community Day Celebration at Russell Sage College.

The program was another way for allies of this community to learn how to support themselves while serving others. The event included various ethnic dishes, art work from students, wrap around support services for refugees and immigrants, as well as the film Babylon: Journey of Refugees. This is a 90-minute film looking at the relationship of refugees to their homelands, lost and new, and the conflicts that exist within the countries to which they flee using puppets and moving panoramic scrolls.

In service,
Ainsley Thomas
Chief Diversity Officer
