Fall semester hotspot lending service available to students

The Dwight Marvin Library has 100 WiFi hotspots available for student loan for fall semester. Priority for access is for students who are parents of dependent children, a cohort identified by the funding agency as in need of support due to disproportionate COVID-related hardship.

Advisors and academic support units are encouraged to direct students to the service. Hotspots will be available for pick-up beginning Monday, Aug. 22, from the first floor service desk at the Marvin Library Learning Commons. Preferential lending to student parents will continue through Friday, Sept. 2.  Starting Tuesday, Sept. 5, any remaining hotspots will be available for borrowing by any students while supplies last.

Students are strongly encouraged to complete a reservation form given anticipated interest in this resource. The simple online form is linked from the library’s Hotspot Lending subject guide. Students who complete a reservation form will be given priority through Sept. 2. A flyer with details is available and is also online; please contact library program assistant Lisa Poli to request print copies for your office.

Wifi hotspots must be returned by December 16, the last day of the semester.

Chromebooks will continue to be available for borrowing for the full fall semester by any current student*.

This initiative was made possible through an award by the American Libraries Association COVID Library Relief Fund.

*Students with unreturned equipment from previous semesters are ineligible to borrow additional equipment.
