Effective for the FY 2022-2023 academic year, all college and Capital District Educational Opportunity Center employees — full-time, part-time or grant-funded — are eligible to receive a tuition waiver for their eligible dependents for up to 12 credits per semester for courses taken at HVCC.
Waivers must be submitted to the Office of Human Resources by 5 p.m. on the day before the first day of classes for each semester of enrollment. If that day falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline shall be 5 p.m. on the first day of classes. The waiver shall be calculated at the in-state tuition rate. The student is responsible for providing a certificate of residence; for the payment of all fees and other costs of attendance; and for meeting all published enrollment, registration and payment deadlines. In the event the student drops a course or courses, the cost of tuition covered under the waiver shall be refunded to the college.
This waiver shall not apply to any non-credit offerings through the Offices of Community and Professional Education, Workforce Development or the Capital Region Educational Opportunity Center.
Eligible dependents shall include:
1) Spouse
2) Legally registered domestic partner
3) Child; defined as biological, adopted, foster, step, or legal ward.
This waiver program does not alter the dependent tuition waiver clauses contained in any of the college’s collective bargaining contracts, management confidential contracts or the administrative code. However, for this academic year, all eligible requests shall be honored, regardless of any limits imposed in those agreements.
