A fortnight is one of those words that doesn’t come up often in American English. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word itself comes from an Old English word meaning “fourteen nights” or two weeks. And two weeks from today on Thursday, Nov. 18, the Learning Centers will host another “Write All Night” on the lower level of The Marvin Library.
“Write All Night” is offered once each semester to give students additional time to work on their writing assignments. Instead of the regular closing hour of 10 p.m., the Marvin Library will remain open and writing services will be available that evening until midnight. Thus, students will have the opportunity to work on their research papers, to ask questions and to get general-news feedback on what they’ve already written.
In addition to all the instructors who will be available to offer assistance, the Learning Centers also will provide light refreshments.
So, remember, a fortnight is a two-week period, and “Write All Night” is only a fortnight away!
