The campus community is encouraged to come out and support three of the college’s athletic teams on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the McDonough Sports Complex. The fun begins at 1 p.m. when the men’s basketball team and hockey team host regional rivals Mohawk Valley Community College and Broome Community College, followed by the women’s basketball team, who will host its counterpart from Mohawk Valley Community College.
Since this is a community day, invitations will be extended to local high school sports programs, YMCAs and other community youth group organizations to showcase the college athletic facilities, and drum up community support for the home team!
Alfredo Balarin, assistant director for student life, said this is an excellent opportunity for the college community to come out on a Saturday afternoon with their families and cheer on the home team. “It also is a chance for community residents, especially our youth in middle schools and high schools, who may be encouraged by the athletic competition and educational facilities that we offer. It’s just another way to promote Hudson Valley and encourage local support,” he said.
Refreshments and prizes will be offered. This event is sponsored by the Student Senate.
