The softball team (1-1) defeated Wells College (0-2) in its first game of the year 15-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings lost the second game of the day to Potomac State (4-0), 6-1. This was the first day the team competed in Myrtle Beach, SC for a series of games throughout the week.
Kate Cahrenger (Waterford Halfmoon/Waterford) pitched a shutout in the opening game. Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) provided her with some run support going 2-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) also chipped in three RBI’s going 2-3 from the plate.
In the second game, the bats went cold as McDonough provided the only RBI for the Vikings in the game.
The team’s next games are Tuesday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Vikings will open against Bowie State and then will get a rematch against Potomac State.
