Softball Team Splits With Genesee

 

The Hudson Valley Community College softball team (9-3) split a double-header against Genesee Community College (4-8) on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings won game one 5-2, but fell to the Cougars 10-5 in the second game.

Kate Cahrenger (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) earned her fifth win of the season with a win in game one. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) went 2-3 at the plate and Danielle Greene (Heatly/Green Island) also had two hits. Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) and Megan Matan (Shaker/Latham) each contributed two RBIs in the win.

In game two, Hudson Valley was up 3-0 with two outs in the third before Genesee scored eight consecutive runs. Molly McDonough went 4-4 in the game recording her second home run of the season. The Vikings out-hit the Cougars 10-9, but the costly eight-run third inning proved to be the difference.

The women’s next game is Thursday, April 14 at Herkimer County Community College at 4 p.m.
