Black History Month events

 

Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour, the first African-American female combat pilot, will visit Hudson Valley Community College to share her story of ambition and determination

Armour, who went from beat cop to combat pilot within three years, has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and CNN. Come meet Vernice at noon Tuesday, Feb. 22 in the BTC Auditorium.

“Frederick Douglass Unplugged,” a one man performance on the life and times of the famous abolitionist

Frederick Douglass will be featured from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the Exhibition Room, located on the second floor of the Siek Campus Center.

These events, open to the campus community, are sponsored by The Black & Latino Student Alliance and The Student Senate.
