Separate for recycling:
– Paper – place in paper recycling container
– Cardboard – flatten and place next to any trash container
– Glass, plastic and metal containers (beverage or empty product containers) — place in beverage recycling containers or contact me for guidance (7163 or p.watt@hvcc.edu)
– Printer cartridges – mail to Computer Services (HGB 119)
– Batteries – to find a collection container near you click on the Recycle Guide at https://www.hvcc.edu/ehs/recycle/index.html
– Bubble wrap or foam peanuts – contact p.watt@hvcc.edu for collection
– Scrap metal – submit a work order to Physical Plant for pick up
– Bulbs from UV, fluorescent, metal halide or HID lamps – submit a work order to Physical Plant for pick up
Contact me (p.watt@hvcc.edu) for pick up & safe disposal of the following:
– Latex and solvent based paints
– Any liquid product (cleaners, inks, solvents, flammables, corrosives, etc)
– Photographic chemicals/products
– Chemicals products you no longer will use
– Any mercury containing items
– Oils or antifreeze
– Spray cans that are not completely empty
Liquids should never be disposed of in the dumpster or dumped down an outdoor storm drain. And indoor sinks should only be used to dispose of liquid products that have been determined to be safe to the environment.
