Faculty: Are Your Students Interested in the Garfinkel Essay Prize?

Faculty members:

In 2008, a Hudson Valley Criminal Justice student won the statewide Garfinkel Essay Prize, sponsored by the Unified Court System of New York State. Last year, one of our students received an honorable mention. Can we take the top prize again this year?

For more information about the 2012 competition, go to http://www.courts.state.ny.us/history/essay/2012/essay12.htm.

Prizewinners will be honored at the Law Day ceremony at Court of Appeals Hall in Albany, an event at which the Chief Judge of the State of New York presides and State dignitaries attend.

Following the Law Day ceremony, there will be a luncheon for the winners and their families hosted by The Historical Society of the Courts of the State of New York. The professors who mentor the prize winners and the presidents of the colleges they attend will also be invited to attend the Law Day ceremony and the luncheon.

The prizewinning essays will be published on the Web site of The Historical Society of the Courts of the State of New York.
