Faculty Mentors for Fall 2011

The Center for Effective Teaching urges the campus community to take advantage of the expertise of our faculty mentors — our “go-to” people with specialized skills who can answer questions, demo the key features of software programs, provide classroom ideas and assist all college employees with focused assistance in working though our work-related challenges.

Nine experienced faculty participate in the program, including:

  • Jaime Barrett, who can help with Turnitin and detecting plagiarism;
  • Marianne Belles is willing to help faculty with developing portfolios for discretionary promotions;
  • Milt Connors has great tips for PowerPoint and the presentation of course content;
  • Linda Desnoyers has helped countless colleagues develop a meaningful course syllabus;
  • Mary Beth Farr serves as our mentor-on-the-move and will be on call for help especially with Microsoft Office programs;
  • Kyra Garrigue is our resident digital photo/video editing/web page development expert;
  • Toni Howard, who has any number of ideas to share on classroom management;
  • Tony Podlaski, who has experience with most desktop-publishing software, including InDesign and Publisher;
  • Michael Such can help you take advantage of the many functions of Zimbra along with other ways to remotely access your files

The full mentor areas with which you may receive assistance are located at https://www.hvcc.edu/cet/meet_mentors.html and the calendar-based mentor availability schedule can be found at https://www.hvcc.edu/cet/mentors-schedule.pdf

Look for the “Mentor is In” sign on the door of the Faculty Resource Room, BTC 1054, which will indicate the availability of a mentor at any given time.
