Panel Discussion: Faculty Response to Disruptive Student Behavior

Thursday, Oct. 20, 1-2 p.m.
Marvin Library Multipurpose Room, 1st Floor

Facilitator: Dr. Alex Popovics

Recently, a group of faculty members worked with Dr. Alex Popovics to create a clear procedure for faculty members in dealing with disruptive student behavior. While the Judicial System is very well described in the college catalog, it was felt that concrete guidelines were needed for faculty to follow whether such disruptive behavior was minor or major in nature.

Dr. Popovics and the committee devised a flow-chart and a narrative for faculty to consult and this information is posted on the Blackboard Portal.

Last year, Dr. Popovics presented an engaging and informative talk at the Academic Senate and a 20-Minute Mentor session on faculty response to disruptive student behavior. For those who have not had the opportunity to hear Dr. Popovics, please join us to discuss this often perplexing and challenging aspect of teaching.

Dr. Popovics will be joined by members of the Student Behaviorial Assessment Team (SBAT), the mission of which is to provide an early intervention resource for faculty and staff in order to address student behavioral issues and promote student academic success and safety.
