“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When our mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers”
~ Thich Nhat Nanh.
These simple words offer access to a profound truth. Though we may be aware of the power of presence, we often resist being truly present to those we love. The busyness of modern life, countless distractions and endless means of personal entertainment make it easy for us to overlook the power of presence to others and even to ourselves!
Let us discover the healing power of presence by taking time out to reflect or pray, to offer a word of hope to a hurting friend or stranger or to validate the achievement of another by recognizing their accomplishments.
As I begin my tenure at Hudson Valley as campus minister, I pray that I can offer presence to the entire campus community. Stop by the interfaith prayer room anytime. All are welcome! Stop by my office any time if you are in need of a listening ear or just to say hi!
Blessings to you.
