Acclaimed luthier Michael Collins reveals the secrets of building a guitar in a discussion about the sound characteristics of different woods and other nuances that bring the guitar to life and distinguish the instrument-s voice.
His presentation includes a display of guitars in various stages of construction. Joining Collins is Eric Marczak, a local woodworker who has concentrated on guitar building for the past six years. He will demonstrate the incorporation of rosettes and pearl and stone inlays. With 45 years of woodworking experience, Marczak has built everything from Native American flutes to the temple at the Grafton Peace Pagoda.
