Times Union arts critic Amy Griffin listed the lecture by photographer Barbara Ess on Nov. 16 as one of her “top five moments” in the arts for 2011. Griffin writes:

At first, Barbara Ess, who was half an hour late to her own lecture, might have seemed to be rambling but for those paying attention, this self-proclaimed “photographer who hates photography” was, by turns funny, self-deprecating and provocative, offering genuine insights into her work well as the state of photography and surveillance in the Internet age.
