Following is the agenda set for the Curriculum Committee meeting to be held Monday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in BTC Meeting Room 1. All are welcome to attend.

3.1 Deactivate ARTS 131 – Photography II – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
Request to remove ARTS 131 Photography II to avoid confusion with a new digital photography course concurrently proposed.
3.2 New Course ARTS 139 – Photography II – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
ARTS 139 provides students with a second level digital photography course.
3.3 New Course ARTS 229 Black and White Photography – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
This is a film-based studio photography course which students can take as one of two Fine Arts electives in the Fine Arts Degree Program.
3.4 Deactivation of ARTS 233 – Digital Photography – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
Request to deactivate ARTS 233 as it will overlap with the new course ARTS 139 submitted
concurrently.
3.5 Change in degree requirements for the Digital Media Certificate – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
The changes provide greater flexibility and update the caliber of the digital photography course to that of a studio art course.
3.6 Change in degree requirements for the Fine Arts A.S. degree program – submitted by Dorothy Reynolds
Changes to the Fine Arts degree program, submitted concurrently, are reflected in this proposal as well as a change in Fine Arts elective credits and the total credit hours for the program.
3.7 New Course HLTH 155 – Wilderness and Remote First Aid – submitted by Colleen Ferris
New course HLTH 155 will serve the population of students interested in a first aid course that goes beyond standard first aid. HLTH 155 will prepare students to recognize emergencies, make first aid decisions, and provide cared in a wilderness or remote setting.
3.8 New Course PHED 275 – Professional Issues in Sport and Exercise – submitted by Andrew Blanchard
PHED 275 offers students a new physical education elective.
3.9 Change in the program entrance and degree requirements for the Physical Education Studies – submitted by Andrew Blanchard
Program entrance requirements change from requiring a lab science to any science and a unit of Math to a unit of Math including GED. Changes in degree requirements add Social Science restricted electives to the restricted electives for Humanities. The changes being made to major requirements provide students with more options.
3.10 Change in Course Title, Course Description, and Pre-Requisites for CIVL 100 – Rendering – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
Review of the program with the advisory board indicates that consistency in course titles assists in transferability for students. This proposal changes the course title from Rendering to Visualization I. Other changes were made to align the course and its materials with the requirements at four-year institutions.
3.11 Introduction of New Course CIVL 102 – Architectural Fundamentals – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
CIVL 102 will aid student transfer to four-year institutions. This is part of the change to the entire ACT program as directed by the Industrial Advisory Board and four-year institutions.
3.12 Introduction of New Course CIVL 103 – Visualization II – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
CIVL 103 will aid student transfer to four-year institutions. This is part of the change to the entire ACT program as directed by the Industrial Advisory Board and four-year institutions.
3.13 Change in Course Title, Course Description, Pre-Requisites, Contact and Credit Hours of CIVL 221 – Architectural Design – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
The change is part of an entire program change to facilitate student transfer to four-year institutions. Changes include a new course title, Design I; pre-requisites CIVL 102 – Architectural Fundamentals and CIVL 100 – Visualization I; contact hour increases from 2 lecture/3 lab to 3 lecture/4 lab; and an increase of course credit hours from 3 to 5.
3.14 Change in Course Title, Course Description, Pre-Requisites, Contact and Credit Hour for CIVL 225 – Architecture Design II – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
The change is part of an entire program revision to facilitate student transfer to four-year institutions. CIVL 221 – Design II is the proposed new title. A pre-requisite to CIVL 221 Design I and a pre or co-requisite CIVL 223 – Building Construction II have been added. Contact hours are increased from 2 lecture/3 lab to 3 lecture/4 lab. Credit hours are increased from 3 to 5. Four-year institutions require design courses have a minimum of 5 credits and 7 contact hours.
3.15 Introduction of New Course CIVL 226 – Design III– submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
CIVL 226 will aid student transfer to four-year institutions. This is part of the change to the entire ACT program as directed by the Industrial Advisory Board and four-year institutions.
3.16 Introduction of New Course – Form 103/College Forum – submitted by Dr. Christine LaPlante
The proposal introduces a new forum course specifically for architectural students
3.18 Introduction of New Architecture Certificate Program – submitted by Dr. Christine
LaPlante
This certificate has been developed to enhance employment opportunities for students within the field of Architecture Technology. Additionally this program is aimed at aiding in student retention within the A.A.S. program.
