Hudson Valley 101 is an information session for accepted students and their parents that has been held in late winter or early spring each year since 2006.
The students that attend this event are very likely to complete the registration process and be a part of the new class of students in the fall. In fact, on average, 85 percent of the attendees enroll, well above the 60 percent yield rate President Matonak has called for this fall. Not only that, but the students that participate in Hudson Valley 101 consistently have had a higher retention rate than other students in their entering cohort.
Retention Services always has relied on many offices and individuals to take the time each year to staff Hudson Valley 101, particularly Melissa Coon and the Tour Guide Club, Professor Ron Mulson, Brian Vlieg, Sue Kutryb, Anthony Kossmann, Mara LeFebvre, Mat Cantore and the Theatre Club, Financial Aid and Student Activities. This year, more faculty members are volunteering, including Vonnie Vannier, Carmine Pesca and Colleen Bartels, to welcome the accepted students and their parents and to help us get their feedback on the event.
