Security Guard Training in Workforce Development!

 

Did you know all security guards in New York State must be licensed?

The Workforce Development Institute (WDI) at Hudson Valley Community College provides the Security Guard Training necessary for individuals interested in becoming licensed in New York State. For individuals looking for a new career or to supplement their income, security guard training is affordable and requires only a few evenings or weekends to complete!

The 8-hour Pre-Assignment Training Course provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. A one-hour exam is given at the end of the course.

The 16-hour On-the Job-Training Course provides the student with more detailed information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. This course must be completed within 90 days of employment as a security guard. A one-hour exam is given at the end of the course.

Students must pass the written test in order to pass the course and to earn the WDI Certificate of Successful Completion.

Prerequisites: Applicants must be 18 years of age, must be a citizen or resident alien of the United States and must not have been convicted of a serious criminal offense. A minimum of a 10th grade reading skill level in English is required. Applicants for the 16-hour OJT course must have completed the Pre-Assignment 8-hour course.
