TEC-SMART’s early-college program growing

According to a article posted Aug. 2 on The Business Review’s website, twelve Capital Region school districts from as far away as Catskill in Greene County will send students to the nanotechnology and clean energy programs at Hudson Valley Community College’s TEC-SMART this fall.

The program, in its second year, allows high-schoolers to earn college credits while taking courses at HVCC’s campus in Malta. Participating schools include Ballston Spa, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Catskill, East Greenbush, Galway, Hudson Falls, Mechanicville, Niskayuna, Saratoga, Schuylerville, South Glens Falls and Stillwater.

This week’s print edition of The Business Review looks at the impact of that program as more companies require skills rooted in science, mathematics, engineering and technology.
