Thank you to all members of the campus community who helped to make New Student Orientation a rousing success!
On Saturday, more than 1,000 students attended New Student Orientation. Along with them came approximately 1,000 family members and guests. A review of their evaluations revealed that they were overwhelmingly satisfied with the day’s events. Over 98 percent of the students who completed a Student Orientation Questionnaire responded favorably to the question, “Overall, how would you rate your Orientation experience?” Over 99 percent of the parents and guests also responded favorably to the question on the Orientation Questionnaire for Parents and Guests.
When asked about what was most helpful about Orientation, responses from new students included: “Knowing where classes are;” “Information on getting involved;” “The tables with the clubs;” “The tour;” “Getting ready for your future session;” “Career plans;” “The general session;” “Talking to students;” “What’s expected of me as a HVCC student;” “Friendly people;” “The transfer process session;” “Getting books and ID;” “Learning about activities;” Helpful staff;” “Knowing where my classes are;” “Individual info sessions of choice;” “The people in the bookstore;” “Feeling welcome;” “They really stressed that everyone is here to help me!;” “All of the staff assistance;” “Bookstore info—waivers;” “Learning more about the college and what my expectations are going to be;” “The speakers were great;” “Everyone wearing yellow shirts with ‘Ask Me;’ ” “Learning Center;” “How the college e-mail is the center of communication within HVCC;” “The photographer guy;” “The transfer session;” “Learning about how to do good in class;” “Knowing I can get help at any time;” “Everything;” “Financial Aid.”

The Orientation was the result of the planning and hard work of many, many individuals throughout our campus community. Thank you for welcoming our students, parents and guests in such a fine manner.
