Students interested in completing a Bachelor of Science degree in forensic psychology, forensic science or criminal justice have a new local option.
Hudson Valley Community College and The College of Saint Rose recently signed several transfer agreements that allow qualified students to transfer directly from the community college into Saint Rose’s baccalaureate programs in Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science and Criminal Justice.
Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science are some of the most popular academic degree programs at Hudson Valley. According to the trade publication Community College Week, the college ranked fourth among all community colleges nationwide in the number of Criminal Justice degrees awarded in 2010-2011.
“The Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and Public Administration Department offers some of the most popular academic programs we have at Hudson Valley. Each year, about 750 students take advantage of those programs, and we’ve seen a strong interest among our students in continuing their studies at the bachelor’s degree level, especially in the growing field of forensic psychology,” said President Drew Matonak. “With strong academic advisement, our students can transfer directly to Saint Rose as juniors in these programs, and that’s a great opportunity for those who wish to continue their education here locally.”
The Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and Public Administration Department houses five degree programs: Criminal Justice (A.S. and A.A.S.), Forensic Science (A.S.) , Public Administration (A.A.S.), Criminal Investigation (A.A.S.), and a certificate in Animal Advocacy.
Hudson Valley and The College of Saint Rose have a history of collaboration. Transfer agreements between the schools cover programs as diverse as Accounting, Broadcast Communication, Fine Arts, Human Services and Early Childhood.
