The baseball team (28-14-1) received a #2 seed in the Final Four Region III Baseball Championship this weekend. The Vikings will square off against #3 seeded Schenectady County Community College (26-9-1) on Friday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. at Herkimer County Community College. This is the opening round of a double-elimination tournament.
These two teams are no strangers as they have gone head-to-head four times this year. The Vikings hold a slight three game advantage with the other game being suspended at a 7-7 tie. Hudson Valley won at Schenectady 12-1 and tied 7-7, while the Vikings slightly edged Schenectady in both home games, 1-0 and 10-8.
The other two teams in the tournament are top-seeded Niagara Community College (30-3) and #4 seed Erie Community College (25-16). These two teams play each other at 7 p.m.
Hudson Valley is coming off two impressive Sub-Regional wins (9-1 and 7-2) over Jamestown Community College (20-23) this past weekend.
