The college always has maintained a commitment to support the work of our personnel and to that end operates the initiatives of the Center for Effective Teaching. The staff and programs of the CET exist to support the professional development of all employees of the college.
Many of your colleagues regularly attend workshops designed to enhance their use of software and other productivity tools or their understanding of college policies and practices. The schedule of available faculty and staff workshops can be found on the CET Webpage. If you have a specific training need or requirement, please let us know and we will work to develop training opportunities for any work related areas of interest.
Several experienced faculty members serve as “mentors” to other instructors and staff members and are scheduled to be available a few hours each week for one-on-one assistance with specific issues employees may want some help with. From pedagogical/teaching and learning topics to working with specific networks or software, the collective skills of the faculty mentors are at your disposal on an as-needed basis. The skills of the individual mentors can be reviewed here. Their availability for the Fall 2012 semester is as follows:
- Michael Such — Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m.
- Tony Podlaski — Thursdays from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
- Milt Connors — Fridays from noon to 1 p.m.
Other mentors participating in the program are available for specific assistance upon request. Scheduled mentors can be found in the Faculty Resource Room and interested colleagues are encouraged to take advantage of this helpful college initiative.
Let us know how we can be of assistance and feel free to take advantage of our expertise.
We are here to help!
