WDI’s Air Conditioning Service & Repair: Prepare for Summer Work or a Career!

 

The College’s Workforce Development Institute (WDI) offers AIR CONDITIONING SERVICE & REPAIR, a 36-hour course that provides an in-depth study of the practical aspects of residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment and systems.

The course will run from April 15 to May 13, 2013 on  Mondays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m.

AC Service & Repair provides students with skills that will prove helpful in the search for entry-level employment in the field of air conditioning. The course emphasizes the theory of heat transfer, good service and installation practices, as well as the use of instruments and gauges to assist in fault diagnosis.

Topics include:

  •   Terminology
  •   Refrigerants and Refrigerant Charging Methods
  •   Air Conditioning System Mechanical Components
  •   Heat Transfer Theory
  •   Pressure Temperature Relationship
  •   Tools and Materials

 

  •   Installation Practices
  •   Evacuation and Dehydration
  •   Mechanical System Fault Diagnosis
  •   Electrical Fundamentals System Troubleshooting
  •   Refrigerant Recovery

As a follow-up to this course, students should obtain the EPA 608 certification prior to seeking employment in this field.

A CORPORATE TRAINING RATE is available for groups of 6 or more registrations, as well as the option of ON-SITE training for those businesses that have the necessary accommodations.
