Early Warning System now open for summer sessions

The process in WIReD to identify students who should receive Early Alert letters – the Early Warning Web Application – has opened for use for the summer semester.

You may notice that some students are inattentive, unprepared or do not participate in discussions, fail to turn in assignments or perform poorly on early assignments. The goal of the early alert letters is to prompt these students to meet with their instructor and formulate a plan for success.

Although the identification process will be available throughout most of the summer, early intervention with these students is a must so they can take timely steps toward success before their first exams.

Written instructions for using the Early Warning Web Application have been sent to all academic departments. The instructions also are available at www.hvcc.edu/issr/ews.

If you have any questions regarding Hudson Valley’s Early Warning System, please contact Karen Ferrer-Muniz, Associate Dean, Instructional Support Services and Retention, k.ferrermuniz@hvcc.edu.
