Hudson Valley Community College’s Foundation recently was recognized for Overall Improvement in Fundraising by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Hudson Valley is one of five community colleges nationwide to receive this honor.
The college was selected for recognition through a blind analysis of its fundraising performance, based upon the annual Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) report submitted to the Council for Aid to Education.
In announcing the award, the Foundation’s executive director, Rachel Matzkin Kimmelblatt said, “This was a pleasant, and certainly welcome, surprise. The Foundation staff works hand-in-hand with a devoted Board of Directors, whose efforts are truly paying off and being recognized by our nation’s leading educational fundraising association. I cannot thank the college’s many donors and supporters enough, and I join CASE in congratulating our volunteers, without whom none of our success would be possible.”
In all, CASE named 68 colleges and universities and 18 independent schools as recipients of its 2013 Educational Fundraising Awards, which recognize overall performance and improvement in educational fundraising programs. Institutions are evaluated within appropriate peer groups by volunteer judges who do not know the name of the institution tied to the data.
To date, the Foundation has raised more than $9M toward a $10M goal through its Promise of Our Region Campaign in support of the college’s Nursing program, Training and Education Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing and Alternative and Renewable Technologies (TEC-SMART), Science Center and student scholarships.
