Reminder: Hometown Newsmaker Available to Help Spread News of Student Achievement

A reminder that the college uses a news distribution/social media product that helps us spread news about student achievement. We need your help to make best use of this product!

Hometown Newsmaker allow us to more efficiently and effectively communicate student achievement – like making the dean’s list or earning a scholarship – to our students’ hometown newspaper. In the past, we’ve also used the software to promote student government and student organization participation as well as participation in student theater and art exhibitions.

The software allows us to quickly and easily create personalized stories about these accomplishments and publish them online. These achievements can also be sent to the students’ hometown newspapers through the Hometown Newsmaker application.

We are trying to make sure students receive appropriate, positive credit for the accomplishments they achieve here on campus. A student’s online profile allows them to maintain a positive, achievement-based web presence that could aid in obtaining internships, jobs and employment.

Here are a few examples of students who have taken advantage of their ability to create a profile:

Roslyn Williams

Richmond Amponsah

John Zaremba

Students who are featured by the college are informed of the announcement through their college e-mail address and encouraged to share their accomplishments with family and friends through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. This reinforces the positive accomplishment and reflects positively on the institution as a whole.

We are relying on faculty and administrators to submit newsworthy items and student accolades. To learn more about how to submit student accomplishments, visit the College’s Hometown Newsmaker  submissions page.

If you have any other questions or would like to talk about potential submissions, call Eric Bryant at x8072.
