Football comes up one yard short

 

The football team (1-4) lost to Monroe College (3-3), 27-21, on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings trailed by six points with the ball at their own 36-yard line with under two minutes left in the game. Hudson Valley drove it all the way to the Monroe seven yard line, setting up a first and goal with 30 seconds left in the game. On third down, Eric McCoy(Central Islip/Central Islip) connected with Brandon Egan-Thorpe (New Paltz/New Paltz), but was stopped at the one-yardline as time expired.

Larry Zimmerman (Pine Grove/Pine Grove, PA) led the Vikings with eight catches for 157 yards and a touchdown. Antwon Burney (Coral Gables/Miami, FL) led the rushing attack with 44 yards on just six carries, including a 36-yard touchdown run.

Naheshema Jackson-Sutton (Lewis/Baltimore, MD) led the Vikings with 11 tackles, and Ashton McKenzie (Clinton/Bronx) recorded another sack in the loss

The Vikings travel to Union JV Sunday for a game at 1 p.m.
