Veteran’s Day leave of absence for eligible employees

Please be advised that under Section 63 of the Public Officers Law any College employee that served in active duty in the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard of the United States, and has been honorably discharged or separated from service under honorable conditions, is entitled to a leave of absence with pay on Veteran’s Day. Other individuals who may not have served in that capacity may be entitled to such leave of absence if they otherwise satisfy the criteria set forth in Section 63.
If you believe you are entitled to such leave of absence, please notify your supervisor  before Nov. 1, 2013 if you intend to take such leave. This leave must be recorded on your attendance submission as Administrative Leave (AL).
Please be advised that if granting the leave of absence would endanger the public safety or health of persons cared for by the state, the College may deny the request and give you a leave of absence with pay on another day in lieu thereof.
