It was announced Thursday afternoon that women’s soccer head coach Jay Pokines earned Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Pokines last won the honor in 2007 when the Vikings finished 11-6-1.
It also was announced that Alexi Anderson (Heatly/Green Island) of the women’s soccer team and Miguel Arauz(Sheep Shead Bay/Brooklyn) of the men’s soccer team earned All-Conference honors for the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference.
Anderson has three goals on the year and is a staple in the backfield for the women’s team. She’s a team captain and was the team’s MVP last season. Arauz has four goals on the year and four assists, leading the Vikings with 12 points in 13 games.
