Building Civic Capacity for a Stronger Troy, a new initiative funded with a Louis and Hortense Rubins Community Fellows Program Grant, is designed to create opportunities for Troy residents to be engaged in discussions leading to a clear, non-partisan direction for the city, allowing individuals and organizations of Troy to work together to create a better and more vibrant future.
The program will champion the use of public deliberation to help support the planning process for the City of Troy. Discussions involving community residents will occur throughout the city beginning Nov. 19 and lasting until summer. The results from these discussions will be used to create city-wide forums in late summer and fall.
The grant will pay for faculty and students from any of the participating schools — Hudson Valley Community College, Russell Sage College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Emma Willard — to help facilitate the deliberations. If faculty are interested in participating or if they have students they would recommend, they should contact Peter Sawyer at 629-4738.
