Dental Hygiene students take top spots at state conference table clinics

Four seniors from the Dental Hygiene department proudly represented the college at the Empire Conference for the Dental Hygienists’ Association of State of New York, held on Long Island, Nov. 1-3.

The four took home the top two prizes competing against Dental Hygiene students from other college programs across the state.

Colleen Trendell, Carli Zimmerman, Bethany Berzal and Katie Harrington were chosen to compete in the conference’s table clinics, where students are asked to present on a particular topic relevant to their field.

Trendell and Zimmerman took first place with their evidence-based topic, “Rampant Caries in Our Children.”

Berzal and Harrington received the second place award for their topic, “Effects of the Hookah on Oral Health.”

The four were chosen to represent the college because they came in the top three places last April when they presented as part of their Introduction to Community Dental Services course.

Congratulations to the students and the Dental Hygiene program!
