Two Hudson Valley Community College Foundation scholarship recipients represented the college at the recent Women’s Fund of the Capital Region’s 6th Annual Trailblazer’s Luncheon: Brittney Stone, a dental hygiene student who will graduate in 2014, and Hannah Ohemma Tayki, a criminal justice major who also will graduate in 2014. The women received Women’s Fund scholarships.
“Teach a man and you teach an individual; teach a woman and you teach a community,” Hannah Ohemma Tayki said during the luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Glen Sanders Mansion. Fellow scholarship recipient, Brittney Stone, also attended the luncheon.
The annual event brings together prominent women of the Capital Region to celebrate and empower the advancement of women with a focus on education as the catalyst for success. Emceed by CBS News Channel 6 Dori Marlin, the event also honored Elizabeth Coco, entrepreneur in residence at University of Albany, and Christine Standish, president of the Standish Family Foundation. The day culminated in an overwhelming sense of pride for the courage and dedication that the Women’s Fund provides to our community, including the women at Hudson Valley Community College.
