Foundation Friday: Faculty and staff invited to serve on Scholarship Committee

Hudson Valley faculty and staff members share one common purpose — to enhance the student experience. The Foundation embodies this student-driven mission by providing generous scholarships that defray the cost of education and reward academic excellence. The Foundation’s scholarship program makes an already high-quality, accessible education even more affordable, thereby decreasing the financial burden to students.  (To view the list of available scholarships, please click  here.)

The Foundation is looking to expand and diversify its scholarship selection committee and invites faculty and staff to participate. Each year we receive more than 300 applications.  The role of the committee is to review applications and select recipients. This is a short but intense time commitment, and one that is extremely rewarding. Reading these stories is a powerful and moving experience that we’d like to share with the campus community.

Committee member duties include:

  • Review applications
  • Fair and impartial selection of recipients
  • Marketing scholarships to students in your department/program
  • Attend Scholarship Committee meetings
  • Assist in planning the annual Scholarship Reception

If you would like to join or learn more about the Scholarship Committee, please contact Geoff Miller at 518.629-8172 or g.miller@hvcc.edu. The committee’s next meeting will be in February 2014.
