Increase the Peace: Help Yourself While Helping Others
What if you could lower violent crime in the city of Albany AND increase the peace in your own life all at the same time? We believe you can!
Starting on Jan. 1, 2014, a community of people who appreciate the power of peaceful intention through meditation will conduct an historic experiment. The question being tested through this experiment is: Can we lower aggravated assaults in the City of Albany (compared to the previous five years) with our collective intention of peace aimed at the city?
To help participants in the study focus their thoughts, meditations will be filmed live at Trinity Alliance in Albany and streamed over the internet for people to follow at home each day of January 2014. These meditations will teach people how to lead their nervous system into states of greater well-being as they focus their thoughts on peace both for themselves and for the Albany region.
Research has demonstrated that peaceful intentions for both self and others has many positive effects including lowering blood pressure and pain levels, and enhancing optimism and relationships. It is a Win-Win! SUNY Albany professor, Dr. John Foldy, will be analyzing crime data to determine if there is a corresponding reduction of assaults during January 2014. Research suggests that when more people are involved, there is a more robust positive effect, so it is important for as many people as possible to participate.
If you would like to be a part of this historic research, please visit www.AlbanyPeaceProject.com as soon as possible to register and have the meditations e-mailed to your inbox each day in January 2014.
When you sign up to participate, you will receive your free “powering up” meditation kit. Your are also invited to attend our kick-off: the New Year’s Day “Catch The Wave” concert on at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Unity Church of Albany, 21 King Street, Albany.
Thank you for considering becoming a part of this historic study!
