The Workforce Development Institute offers Introduction to Revit®, a 30-hour, non-credit, intensified training in 3D computer-aided drafting (CAD), and building information modeling (BIM), using Autodesk® Revit®.

The course provides students with an overview of Revit® software, focusing on light commercial project applications. This training is ideal for individuals/firms interested in updating or switching from 2D CAD to 3D and BIM.
No previous AutoCAD experience required! Students only need basic computer skills, including familiarity with navigating the Windows operating system and minimum 10th grade reading and math skills.
The course will cover:
- Producing 2D and 3D drawings
- Importing AutoCAD drawings and images into Revit®
- Understanding how Revit® helps with conflict avoidance of beams, pipes and HVAC ductwork before construction.
- Demonstrating Revit® plotting and sheets
- Creating/customizing title blocks
- Demonstrating advanced Revit® commands to create custom components (doors, windows, casework), walls and roofs.
- Completing presentation and working drawings.
Prerequisites: Minimum 10th-grade reading and math skills; computer skills, including familiarity with navigating the Windows operating system.
Textbook: Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013: No Experience Required, by Eric Wing (approximately $60)
