Faculty member serves on Gateway’s board of trustees

Fred Alm, an adjunct faculty member in the Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Department, serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway, a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the region’s rich industrial history. The Gateway is located in the former administrative office building of the Burden Iron Works in south Troy, where it operates the Burden Museum.

Alm was a HMIG volunteer for several years before his election to the Board of Trustees in July 2013. He’s been working on rehabilitating an antique dividing engine and mounting solid bronze letters on the Burden Museum’s entrance. As a trustee, he will be working with the museum’s senior scholar, P. Thomas Carroll, Ph.D., on the 21st Century Task Force, a fundraising campaign to continue renovating the museum building and create a permanent endowment fund to support the organization’s ongoing mission.
