The college is offering two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who have participated on a FIRST team during their school career. This scholarship may be utilized for any curriculum at Hudson Valley.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be a high school senior and have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition team or a FIRST Tech Challenge team. FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics teams design, build and program robots to compete in a 12′ X 12′ field against other robot teams. Teams are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles.
A completed FIRST Scholarship application package must be submitted, no later than April 1, to the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation. An application and further information may be found on the FIRST scholarship page.
Local school districts who participate in FIRST competitions include: Albany, Amsterdam, Ballston Spa, Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake, Cambridge, Hudson, Niskayuna, Queensbury, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schuylerville, Shaker, Shenendehowa, South Colonie and Troy.
