The softball team (8-2) defeated SUNY Delhi (3-9) in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings won both games in 5 innings, 8-0 and 12-3.
Maggie Miller (Maple Hill/Schodack) recorded both wins on the mound to improve to 8-2 on the year. Chelsie Matala (Tamarac/Melrose) led the Vikings in the first game with three RBIs, and Lauren Aitken (Maple Hill/Schodack) and Allison Ford (Mechanicville/Mechanicville) each recorded two hits in the shutout.
In game two, Alexandra Luscier (Troy/Troy) broke the game open with a homerun, going 3-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Matala added two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases, and Jacqueline Rossi (Shaker/Latham) chipped in two hits and two stolen bases in the win.
The softball team traveled to Broome on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
