Baseball gets late HR to earn split

The baseball team (13-11) split with SUNY Adirondack (3-20) on Thursday afternoon. The Vikings won game one, 4-3, but lost game 2, 12-7.

Zach Steimer (N/A/Ballston Spa) broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the sixth with a solo homerun, which would ultimately lift the Vikings past the Timberwolves in game one. Franklin Miller (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) earned the win on the mound, behind a 16-strikeout performance. Eric Mueller (Bethlehem/Glenmont) and Cristian Disla (Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy/Manhattan) each recorded three hits in the win.

In game two, Anthony Scaccia (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) led the Vikings with a homerun, two RBIs and three runs scored. Bradley Adams (Catholic Central/Troy) returned to action coming off an injury and homered in the third inning, and Joseph Bender (Guilderland/Guilderland) and Cameron Bow (Mt. Anthony Union/Shaftsbury, VT) each recorded two hits in the loss.

The baseball team travels to Herkimer on Saturday for a doubleheader at noon.
