President Drew Matonak is one of eight new members named to the Capital Region Economic Development Council that is charged with reviewing projects for possible state funding.
The new members will fill vacant seats on the council and work together, under the leadership of co-chairs Jim Barba of Albany Medical Center and Dr. Robert Jones of the University at Albany.
In 2011, Governor Andrew Cuomo established 10 Regional Councils to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth for their regions. The Councils are public-private partnerships made up of local experts and stakeholders from business, academia, local government, and non-governmental organizations.
