Approximately 50 freshmen are expected to attend the inaugural Women’s Empowerment Workshop Day on Friday, Aug. 15, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the BTC meeting rooms.
Presentations from education and community leaders at the event will focus on college and career readiness and success. Presenters and speakers include:
- Dr. Carolyn Curtis, Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Dr. Lucille Marion, Vice President/Executive Director, Capital District Educational Opportunity Center
- Joyce Chupka, President, Vision Power Consulting
- Kathleen Jimino, Rensselaer County Executive
- Deborah Benson, Executive Director, New York State Council on Children and Families
- Dr. Ann Geisendorfer, Department Chair, Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and Public Administration, Hudson Valley Community College
- Elaine Houston, Anchor/Today’s Women, WNYT-TV NewsChannel 13
- Marissa Lanchak, WFLY/FLY 92.3, Assistant Program Director and Music Director/Afternoon Host
