Bb A2014
Here are two more tips for using the new version of Blackboard (A2014) as you prepare your course(s) for the Fall semester!
First Tip: if you have imported a Discussion Board into your course, but did not take advantage of the new feature in Blackboard that allows you to import Discussion Forums without bringing in old Discussion Board threads (See the previous Bb Tip of the week), you will need to delete those old posts before your course goes live on Aug. 25. The method for deleting old posts is the same (Show me how to do that!). However, you now have to be in List View in a Discussion Forum in order to select the “master checkbox” that allows you to select and delete all of the Forum posts in one step, rather than having to select and delete the individual posts one-by-one (How do I switch between List View and Tree View in a Discussion Forum?).
Second Tip: In a welcome change, the new version of Blackboard (Bb A2014) eliminates the need for a z-student account that you use to log into Blackboard and see your courses from a student’s view. If you wish to view your course from a student perspective (i.e. navigate through the course, take a test, post to a Discussion Forum, etc.), you simply select the Enter Student Preview button that appears to the left of your Edit Mode toggle control:

When you go into Student Preview mode, a yellow banner appears across the top of your page, which indicates that Student Preview mod is ON. In order to retain your student user as a course user after you exit from Student Preview mode, and save data from any activity that you engage in (taking tests, submitting assignments, posting to Discussion Forums, etc.) while in Student Preview mode, do the following:

To exit out of Student Preview mode, do the following:

You can confirm that your Preview User is enrolled in your course, by navigating to either your Course User list or your Grade Center, where you will see your Preview User listed:
