On Thursday, July 24, 2014, ITS Launched new services. Over the summer months, ITS has been focused on becoming more agile in the way IT support is delivered to the campus, as well as enhancing its customer service. To that end, ITS now offers the following new services:
Launch of New Guest Network
The network labeled HVCC-Guest has been retired in favor of a self-service oriented Guest network. The former required forms, approvals and was too rigid for granting immediate access to the Internet. A true guest network should not require this level of complexity.
With the new system, users connect to the Guest network, attempt to browse a web site and are immediately instructed on how to obtain a verification code that will get them connected to the Internet. The whole process takes moments with no need for complex technical configurations.
Support documentation for the Guest Wireless Configuration is located under the Wireless Section on the ITS Documentation Web page at: www.hvcc.edu/its/docs/docs.html. In order to connect to this network, a guest must first review Hudson Valley’s privacy policy, then complete a form with their name, e-mail address and mobile phone number. A verification code will then be sent to the e-mail address and mobile phone number provided.
This new service will address a growing need to provide quick access to Internet resources for our vendors, trainers and visitors.
Launch of New Technical Support Help Desk
ITS also launched a new Technical Help Desk for Staff and Faculty on July 24, 2014. This launch includes tools such as:
- Live Chat using OpenFire
- Remote Desktop Support using TeamViewer
- Additional support options on the ITS Web page (www.hvcc.edu/its/support.html).
- Additional Call Center features directing technical questions to support staff
- The introduction of a designated Help Desk area located within the Microcomputer Office area of Higbee 107
When calling 629-7311, option 3 will transfer you to the Technical Support Help Desk or you can call direct at 629-7364.

Regular Hours
Higbee 107 in-person hardware support: Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Classroom support: Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Summer Hours
Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
