Alfredo Balarin receives award

 

Alfredo Balarin, assistant director of student life, is the recipient of the 2014 Leadership Council on Inclusion (LCI) Award. The award honors local college presidents, faculty, staff and students who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in diversity and inclusion on their campus.

Balarin was nominated by Larry Ellis, associate director of the center for counseling and transfer. Ellis represents Hudson Valley Community College on the LCI committee.

The Mission of the Leadership Council on Inclusion is to enhance and promote diversity and multicultural programs at educational institutions and agencies in the Capital Region of New York State. The council serves as a resource, advocate, and catalyst for the implementation of institutional change related to local and national issues of inclusion in education.

The awards ceremony is scheduled from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17 at the Rensselear Polytechnic Institute Upper Sage Dining Hall.
